Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a therapy technique that is in line with thoughts, feelings and behaviours. This process has a number of different approaches such as; ‘Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy’ and ‘Dialectic Behaviour Therapy’. But mainly all of the cognitive-behaviour therapy methods assume that our thoughts are the source of your feelings and behaviours. While changing the false thoughts and beliefs, the feelings and behaviours can be changed, too.

The treatment plan in this method aims to show the client the incorrect beliefs and help them find alternative thoughts to create. Within the sessions the client and also the therapist will work together and both of them are active participants.

The therapist uses the material that is presented and doesn’t question the patient’s childhood or fantasies unlike psychoanalysis. Cognitive-Behavioural therapy offers fast and permanent approaches to the client’s problems. Therefore it doesn’t lose time with repressed material. The sessions last approximately 16 sessions and the client is offered some home work.

The home work targets to the changes and also the goals which the client would like. To get a good result from the therapy, the clients must do their home works, because they are a significant part in the treatment. The therapist’s role is always to listen, encourage and teach towards client the way to create alternative thoughts against stress factors.

This way later on the individual will know how you can deal with the difficulties without the need for therapy. Throughout the sessions the therapist asks a great deal of questions to the client to find out the actual problem and it is reasons. The therapist never tells to the client how to feel and can give advice if needed.

The session ends using the mutual decision of the client and also the therapist. The client knows how their ideas affect the feelings and behaviour at the end of the sessions. They will be ready to apply the thinking methods for the entire content of their life. Cognitive behavioural therapy is one of the most successful methods nowadays because it is offering a therapy in a short time.
